Strategy is not about obtaining everything one desires. Strategy is not attacking on all fronts; it is not about being all things to all people; it is not about defending all points without distinction or discrimination.

Strategy is about choice. The choice made is to sacrifice small things to achieve larger things; to distinguish between the important and unimportant, and act accordingly.

I am loathe to criticize those who are constitutionally incapable of voluntarily sacrificing the meager for the great, largely because such criticism, doing no good for the target, would be received as mere insult.
